Miles 7; Elevation gained 2,000 ft
After resupplying and drying out, we got dropped off at the foot of Bromley Mt at about 2:00. Still plenty of water on the trail from the Friday/Sat deluge, but sun was shining and we got to the top in good shape. Chairlifts were bringing tourists up for the view. A Hasidic family from Bklyn was up there, and the mom looked at our packs and asked if we were “walking back down too.” I said we’re walking to Canada – always fun to drop that! This brought on many more questions and they asked me to take their picture. Made me NYC homesick a bit.
Came down back of Bromley, 3 miles to Mad Tom Notch Road, the originally planned pick up spot before the skies opened. We headed up and up from there, arriving at Styles Peak around 6:00. Prob should have pushed on but there were nice tent sites up there and there’s a beautiful view SE from there where you can see Rt 11 in the valley, plus Magic Mountain ski area. Ate breakfast with view of sunrise.
